ABOUT THE
ELLERSLIE VFD
There are currently
18
volunteer fire fighters
on the active roster who provide protection for
over
2500 families. All
of our volunteer firefighters are certified by the Georgia Fire
Fighter Standards and Training Council. These volunteers make
themselves available twenty-four hours a day to respond to fire
calls and emergency services calls. Of the 18
volunteers firefighters there are 3 certified first responders and 2
Emergency Medical Tech's. We are prepared to assist our community
with all of its medical along with fire needs.
|
|
The
Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Department (EVFD) serves a seventy-six
square mile area of southeastern
Harris County, Georgia, including
Ellerslie and portions of communities in the surrounding area. A
non-profit private corporation, the EVFD operates under the
supervision of a ten-member Board of Directors comprised of volunteer
fire fighters and citizens. |
|
The EVFD exists to
serve the citizens within our district, but our ability to serve
depends upon the amount of support
we receive from the community. The EVFD relies on the
annual dues contribution of each family and
business within our district to cover all operating expenses. This
contribution is a tax deductible donation.
|
Ellerslie is a rapidly
growing community and the EVFD does more than just
fight an occasional fire. The EVFD provides local emergency
assistance by:
-
Removing downed trees after
storms to clear roadways
-
Assisting with clearing
auto accidents from roadways
-
Directing traffic at
accident sites
-
Responding with ambulance
services to assist with First-Aid and CPR
-
Aiding search parties to
find missing persons.
|
|
The EVFD is proud to
participate in community related programs. Visiting area schools and
day care centers to teach fire safety is always a treat. The EVFD
joins forces with Fire Departments throughout the area during the
Annual Fire Fighter’s Association Boot Drive to collect funds on
behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The EVFD also
participates in the annual
Wheels O’Fire Century Cycle Tour. |
